Despite this year’s pandemic, the ILWU Locals continued its proud tradition of providing food supplies to needy families during the Thanksgiving holiday season.

In conformance with public gathering restrictions, the Locals kept the number of volunteers to the bare minimum and were still able to hand out all of the meals as planned.

Thank you, Mickey Rivers, Night Business Agent, for putting in the labor for Local 63!

Attention Members:

It has come to the Officers’ attention that some iPhone users are experiencing difficulties submitting their September 2020 work cards using the Local 63 Work Card app (“My TimeBook”).   The  app developer has notified Local 63 that version 5.11 of the My TimeBook app will roll out today that should resolve any submission issues.  Please contact the Local 63 Records Clerk after October 6 if you continue to experience difficulties.

SUPERCARGO CLASS SIGN-UPS – The Joint Clerks Labor Relations Committee has agreed to conduct a Supercargo class and are close to completing the curriculum.  We are still discussing dates, class size and the number of classes but we wanted to start a new sign up list for interested members.  There are two ways to get on the list.  As always, there will be a sign-up list placed down in dispatch.  As an alternative, you may simply email us at staff@ilwu63.net and put “Supercargo Class” in the email Subject line and in the body of the email include your full name and work number.   We will merge this into one list by seniority in the local and if there is a tie, seniority in the ILWU.  The deadline to express your interest in attending the Supercargo Class via Sign-Up Sheet or email is Friday, October 30 at 4:30 p.m.   As soon as the Local 63 Officers have more information about the class, interested members will be notified.

Attention Members:

Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the Joint Coast Labor Relations Committee has extended the face coverings requirement outlined in CLRC Meeting No. 43-20 for all individuals accessing PCL&CA covered work sites, Joint Dispatch Halls, and/or Training sites until October 31 at which time the Committee will revisit the issue and determine the next appropriate steps.  See Minutes of CLRC Meeting No. 56-20 by clicking link below.

As a reminder, Local 63 continues to post all important COVID-19 related notices and memoranda at www.ILWU63.net under the COVID-19 menu.

In Solidarity,

The Local 63 Officers

Attention Members,

Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on work opportunity for some members due to periods of reduced cargo volumes and/or the need to quarantine, care for a family member, etc,  the ILWU Coast Committee has raised this issue with the Employers in order to ensure that our members remain eligible for Pension qualifying years, Welfare, Vacation, and Holiday benefits.  This topic remains under discussion at the Coast Committee level (click on link below to read Coast Committee Memo).   The Local 63 Officers will keep you updated.

As always, thank you for your cooperation in helping to ensure a safe work environment.

In solidarity,

The Local 63 Officers
