ILWU Local 63, along with ILWU Locals 13, 94, and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) and its member companies, host a luncheon to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor (BGCLAH). The Boys & Girls Club does an outstanding job serving over 12,000 at-risk youth annually with the most comprehensive child development programming possible. This non-profit must fundraise all of the money needed to operate 15 sites and sponsor such successful programs as “College Bound,” which provided daily college pathway support services to over 1,400 harbor youth this past year. ILWU Local 63 continues to sponsor this luncheon, in partnership with the BGCLAH, because we know that our community’s children need our support at a time when government-funded youth programs continue to face the adverse impact of budget realities.
